Sherry Docherty is a consistently award-winning medical aesthetics professional with over 30+ years of experience shaping the business, education, and professional standards of the spa and esthetics industry. Her career spans roles as a medical esthetician, laser technician, makeup artist, national product trainer for an international skincare line, spa owner and operator, curriculum developer, educator, and institute director.

In 2004, Sherry founded the National Institute of Esthetics, which operated for 17 years and earned multiple awards for excellence in education. The institute is well known for graduating highly skilled, professional estheticians and for its strong reputation throughout the region.

A recognized authority in esthetics education, Sherry developed Canada’s first standardized esthetics curriculum for the National Association of Career Colleges (NACC). This curriculum—adopted and taught nationwide by Private Career Colleges—established the standards for professional practice, health and safety guidelines, equipment requirements, and program content that Ontario esthetics schools continue to follow today. She later contributed to a subsequent revision of the original NACC program, further strengthening and evolving industry standards.

Sherry is a published industry expert, having authored numerous articles for leading publications including Beauty Beat & Spa, Spa Canada, Hairdresser Magazine, Salon Magazine, and Esthemag Pro. She has also been a featured guest speaker at major industry tradeshows such as Esthétique SPA International.

In 2012, Sherry introduced Opulent Professional Skin and Body Care, a Canadian-made, natural and organic-based professional skincare line rooted in performance, integrity, and education.
