Sherry Docherty has extensive experience in the business of beauty. A spa-industry specialist and whose industry experience spans more than 26 years and includes national product trainer for an international skin care line, spa owner/operator, medical esthetician, spa technician, curriculum creator, as well as teacher and director for an esthetics institute. Sherry founded the National Institute of Esthetics in 2004, and since its inception, the school earned many awards, and its reputation for graduating talented, professional estheticians is well known throughout the region.

 

Sherry is an award-winning laser technician, medical esthetician and makeup artist. In 2000, Sherry developed the first standardized esthetics curriculum for the National Association of Career Colleges (NACC), which was purchased and taught Canada wide by Private Career Colleges (PCC). The regulations are standards of practice, health and safety guidelines for estheticians and spas, and include the curriculum content and equipment requirements that Ontario schools must follow. Sherry also developed the NACC’s recent program revision. 

 

Sherry has authored numerous articles for industry magazines, including Beauty Beat & Spa, Spa Canada, Hairdresser Magazine, Salon Magazine and Esthemag Pro. She has also been a guest speaker for several industry tradeshows, including Esthetique SPA International. 

 

In 2012, Sherry introduced her own innovative Canadian made, natural and organic-based line, Opulent Professional Skin and Body Care, which can be purchased through her website at www.nieorganics.com.
